Objectives and Career Pathways

The PhD in Public Health and Lifestyle aims to train researchers capable of designing, conducting, analyzing, and critically interpreting studies aimed at:

  • evaluating the health status of the population;
  • preventing communicable and non-communicable diseases;
  • identifying and analyzing the determinants that influence good health, both on an individual level and at the community level, as well as with reference to specific population targets.

PhD graduates from this program will have broad employment opportunities in public and private institutions involved in public health, such as: Health Protection Agencies, Local Health Authorities, Socio-health Companies, University Hospital Companies, the National Agency for Regional Health Services, Scientific Institutes for Research, Hospitalization, and Healthcare, Experimental Zooprophylactic Institutes, the National Institute of Health, the National Institute for Environmental Protection, the Italian Medicines Agency, the National Institute of Statistics, the National Research Council, Regional Health Directorates, sports federations and CONI, private companies in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, healthcare, and food sectors, other research institutes and entities, and in academia.
